Finding a direction in life is never a simple thing. What most people don’t realize, however, is that picking a direction is not a forever choice.
If you find that the path you’ve taken is all wrong for you, and doesn’t serve your needs and your best interests, you can choose a different one. I’m not saying you should walk out on commitments you’ve made, but what I am saying is that if you choose to work in one field, for example, and then discover that you hate it, there’s always a chance to try something in the same rough area of focus that works differently.
If, for example, you go into sales, knowing you’re good with numbers, and then discover that you hate the public-facing parts of the job, you could, instead, try your hand at accounting or bookkeeping.
While some people may be critical of you for changing in mid-stream, is it better to try and please someone else, or live true to yourself?
