My mindful valentine!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Time to buy the flowers, the candy, maybe even a piece of jewelry, right?

Well, what would really show your love is something more personal and meaningful, even if it doesn’t cost you anything. If you have a talent with words, try writing a poem. If you save mementoes, perhaps put together a scrapbook with photos of some of the fun times you’ve had.

If you’re not feeling creative, consider giving them framed photos of you together. Something to make that long commute more tolerable is another example. Luxuries and treats like gourmet snacks, or some soft silk-blend dress socks for them to wear to work are also a hit. Try to think less about what’s conventional, and more about what your partner loves and cherishes.

If the budget is tight, gifts of service are always sweet. Offer to watch their favorite rom-coms one night, no complaining allowed. Or share football night.

Keep your beloved’s most cherished things in mind, and you’ll be a lot more likely to stay on that list!
